Last month I had the pleasure of hosting our good (and quite talented) friend Laura Hooper Calligraphy back to Seattle for two workshops at the beautiful Continental Floral Greens headquarters. Laura has a true gift and her calligraphy and artistry is so inspiring and makes a cameo at many Valley & Company weddings and events! Laura and her lovely sister, Alyssa, are so delightful to work with, and their traveling calligraphy workshops are so educational, fun, and wildly popular!
I hosted two sessions of 24 ladies and had such a great time just creating and playing hostess (thanks to our parents watching Ava)! Nick was in Kentucky for a birthday trip with my brother, so I had the run of the weekend to prep flowers and greens, tinker with our fun props, polish our silver servingware, and set up and put together a morning breakfast display with donuts, fresh fruit, coffee, mimosas, and tea cookies. The lunchtime session attendees enjoyed meats and cheeses, sweet treats, and more champagne! Many thanks to the wonderfully talented Laura Marchbanks for capturing the sessions and for always being so fun to work with and for the beautiful images. Thank you, friend!
Laura makes all of the attendees feel so welcomed, greeting them and gifting a fun tote filled with calligraphy fun. The students arrived to chairs adorned with tiny greenery wreaths provided by Continental Floral Greens and decadent Fran’s Chocolates smoked sea salt caramels (a Seattle favorite!). My own amazing mom attended the morning class and had a great time. I’ve taken Laura’s class twice now (the first time was two years ago) and I left feeling inspired to continue to practice so I can punch up our personal snail mail. I’ll still leave our client addressing to Laura!
