Anyone who has spent time at storied Roche Harbor Resort in the San Juans Island of Washington State knows it’s a truly magic place. We were so delighted and honored to get to work with Chris and Kelly on their wedding day and spend the entire weekend with their wonderfully warm family and friends at one of our favorite “local” destinations. If you know us and what do, you likely know that we are constantly blown away and grateful that we get to create celebrations for a living (and for 13 years!). Chris and Kelly were another wonderful couple who reminded us just how much we love what we do.
They gave us a loose concept (clean, timeless, fun, and neutral with luscious greens) and really entrusted us to go to town with the details. We brought on some of our favorite creative partners and created a special and memorable weekend for them with hints of their story and personalities throughout.
Thank you to Style Me Pretty and Carats & Cake for featuring this loveliness! It was a joy to be part of this weekend! And special thanks to our talented friends Ashlee and Scott O’Malley for capturing each detail so beautifully.
How we planned and designed: with Kelly really wanting an ethereal and classic look, we put emphasis on the natural surroundings: the ocean, the trees, and natural greenery, while playing off of soft white and cream fabrics and textures. Small details like this gorgeous greens wreath with a beautifully calligraphed message we dreamed up were ever-present and left for little surprises around each corner.
Roche Harbor Resort is a historic getaway a long ferry ride outside of Seattle, where early settlers to the area mined lime. The old lime kiln remnants are still on the property, and gorgeous photo opps are peeking around each corner. It’s such a stunning location for a wedding and the grounds speak for themselves!
While this simple pale pink stock arrangement was a quick afterthought for using a few handfuls of extra flowers, it turned out to be such a lovely detail and a favorite piece! Again, it’s the understated elegance present through this weekend that we absolutely adored.
Guests plucked their names from driftwood found in northern Bellingham and found beautiful hand-scrolling by Laura Hooper Calligraphy indicating which table they were sitting at. Once at the table, Laura penned gold ink on oyster shells that we used as place cards.
We had a lot of fun creating these end-of-night treat boxes for guests, filled with all sorts of Washington goodies like local jams, a Roche Harbor post card, a Washington State cookie, Chukar Cherries (covered in chocolate, a favorite!), and Dry Soda. Our stellar creative team:
