DIY: Eerie Halloween Silhouettes

What better way to add some spookiness to your Halloween mantel than with Eerie Halloween Silhouettes that seem to be watching you as one walks by?

Suppliesmini canvases || black paint || paper animal cutouts {we used Martha Stewart Crafts} || red glittered eyes || glue || scissors || foam brush || fang and eye stickers

To make the rat silhouettes:

Cut an animal cutout so that it fits within the canvas shape. Lightly glue to the canvas so that it sticks into place {you’ll peel it off later}. Once dry carefully use the foam brush to dab black paint over the cutout. Let dry and paint a second coat. Once that coat is dry gently remove the paper cutout you had glued – it should peel off perfectly if your paint is totally dried.

To make the spooky eyed canvases: 

Paint canvases black with two coats of paint. Once dry, adhere red eyes, fangs and other shapes to the canvas. Ta dah!
