Recipe Box: {Happy Hour Version} Herbed Bourbon Cabin and Orange Mint Splash

Nothing says celebration like thoughtful details that reflect that vision, ambiance and host or hostess and their guests. When our friend Christine over at DexOne and DexWeddings invited us to share some of our concoctions for her summertime wedding in Tennessee for her blog we jumped at the chance! Of course, we had to get creative and we whipped up two from scratch that were representative of what she and her groom-to-be love. Here’s what we did:

You’ll need {yields 8 drinks}: 16 oz. orange juice | 8 oz. vodka | a splash of sparkling water per drink | a bushel of mint leaves | 3 tbs. super fine sugar

To make in batches: muddle mint leaves in the bottom of a pitcher and add the sugar. Top with vodka and orange juice and pour into glasses. Then top with sparkling water and ice and mint leaves or orange zest. So yummy!

You’ll need {yields about 6 drinks}: 12 oz. apple cider or apple juice | 6 oz. good Bourbon | about 4 tbs. thyme leaves | 3 tbs. super fine sugar

Muddle thyme leaves in the bottom of a pitcher and add sugar, muddling again. Add apple cider and Bourbon and shake in a cocktail mixer. Pour into low ball glasses and garnish with ice cubes and thyme sprigs.

Delicious, right? We could envision either as a winter cocktail that warms you up on a chilly night {add a dash of nutmeg to the orange cocktail and heat up the bourbon a bit} or as a refreshing summertime drink. What do you think?
