How to Throw A Blind Wine Tasting

As the crisp air settles in and the holidays grow nearer, we look to creative outlets for entertaining – both for ourselves and for our clients. A new favorite is a blind wine tasting bash – a premise that’s positively delicious and perfect for cozy fall months. Aleah’s parents have long thrown amazing parties and had this idea of a blind tasting years ago. To throw your own blind wine tasting party follow our tips:

1. invite guests to bring their favorite bottle of wine wrapped in a brown paper bag and cinched up

2. welcome your guests with wine, cheese and grapes but keep it light

3. ease into the tasting with conversation and games – be sure to provide blankets or shawls if you’re entertaining outside. We love to use hay bales all season long as they’re so festive, yet an inexpensive prop.

4. use seaonal flowers and fruits as decor. Float vibrantly hued blooms in vintage vessels filled to the brim with water.

5. stage the bottles on a long table with glasses for each guest. Write numbers on each bag and provide markers or pens and brown paper {we used paper bags!} for guests to write notes.

Keep your pairings simple: table crackers, apricot jam and grapes will do the trick.

6. invite guests to sip and sample and chat about each bottle. Then tally up the notes and crown a winner!

We love a good wine tasting and we’d love to hear if you recreate this idea! Cheers!
