How-To: Cedar Garland Tutorial
Okay, while it might not be totally official, fall has arrived in our book. So much so that we’re daydreaming about cozying up next to the fire place sipping on cider and carving pumpkins…aren’t you?
Today’s project is a wonderful ease into fall and the holidays and can be created with so many boughs and branches and loose greenery. Take it another step and wire on pinecones {like we did} or heartier blooms like dahlias or orchids for a beautiful wedding work of art.
You’ll need: cedar branches | pinecones | garden pruners | floral wire
Step 1: take two pieces of cedar and wire them together with one overlapping the first {you want to start creating a full look with support from the branches} – by about 8″.
Step 2: keep adding more branches and filler, creating an added length with each bough, while keeping the branches wired closely together
Step 3: place one end of wire through a pine cone like so…
…and wire along the garland as needed
Step 4: attach your garland to a banister with floral wire or heavy gauge ribbon or display on a mantel with a roaring fire crackling below
