Make It: Metallic Painted Tin Cans
Friday! August! Dogs Days of Summer! Ah, cue the goodness! What’s on your docket for the weekend? We hope it includes some form of relaxation and doing what you enjoy…we are prepping for a series of events and travel and finishing up handmade projects for said events. We’ve always been big on homemade elements for entertaining and parties and weddings as they are the best possible way to really pour your heart and style into a celebration.
For one very special dinner in a field party we’re planning for this fall, we’re featuring amazing local bounty and a stellar menu, paired with a number of handmade details and sweet finishing touches reflecting our beautiful guest of honor that will also compliment the breathtaking views and decor and food.
Enter: tin cans! We whipped up this project last year for our online holiday magazine and never shared it here. Isn’t it such a sweet idea? We thought so and can see painted tin cans used in so many ways and for holidays, parties and even as lanterns in various sizes.
You’ll need: paint in metallic colors {be sure it works on metal!} | a sponge brush
The Steps —> Start painting your first coat by brushing the paint on evenly, but thickly. Repeat two or three times, until your paint is nice and smooth. Finish off with greenery or blooms plucked from the garden and you’ve got a unique centerpiece! *Now, we’ve tried this with spray paint as well and it didn’t come out nearly as smooth. If you discover a different way let us know!
