Make It: Campari Sangria Spritzer
Happy, Happy Monday! We are oh-so excited to announce another fabulously sweet Lifestyle contributor, the talented Ashley from Lemon + Lavender! Please give her an extra warm welcome {we can’t wait to taste test this delectable recipe}!
Hello! I’m Ashley the stationer at Lemon + Lavender and an expat blogger at The Blonde in Africa. I’m thrilled to be here sharing my sangria recipe! My husband and I moved to Dakar, Sénéngal 9 months ago and we are finally getting settled and finding a groove! We are loving live here and enjoying the vibrant community and our amazing group of friends. With summer practically all year round in Dakar I have been playing with different sangria recipes.
This little concoction was created after my many unsuccessful attempts to locate brandy, which is one of my staple ingredients for my summer sangria. A constant theme among expats in any third world country is the challenge to adapt many recipes to fit what you have available in the community. Strawberries only come around Dakar once a year and sometimes I can’t even find grapes! I adore Campari and it actually works perfectly! The added simple syrup helps balance out the bitterness of Campari which I love but is an acquired taste. Let this lovely sangria set overnight and you will be everyone’s favorite person at your next pool party!
Campari Sangria Spritzer
1 bottle of red table wine | 1/4 c of Campari | 1/4 c of Grand Marnier or Triple Sec | 1/4 c of simple syrup | 1 c of freshly squeezed orange juice | 1 can of sprite | Juice of 1 lemon | Assortment of fruit
Method:
Simply stir and refrigerate overnight. As for the fruit, I used oranges, lemons, pears, apples and cut in wheels and wedges. Really whatever strikes your fancy. Strawberries or star fruit would be wonderful too!
Cheers to the Dog Days of Summer!

Okay- So Ashley seems pretty cool, but she is making me want to booze before 9am.
