Make it: Patterned Paper Gift Tags

Oh, friends. Though Christmas and all that jazz have officially said farewell, late winter and spring ring in equally festive holidays. Think lots of gift-giving and entertaining opportunities like Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and Mother’s Day. Stop us now or we’ll be on a roll!

For each of these holidays we love to go all out. They drum up memories of growing up and Aleah being greeted with a special pink-and-red package filled with Valentine’s delights like lacy-inspired cookies, handmade Valentine’s cards from her parents, and Irish goodies on St. Patrick’s morning. Green pancakes were also a must! While big hoopla each year seems to typically be Christmas {you know us, we are big fans}, these smaller whimsical holidays are just as sweet and should be treated as such.

So to prep for these special celebrations why not whip up some charming gift tags perfect for any occasion. You can customize them based on the month or holiday or the recipient. For a wedding consider a striped paper that mimics the table runner or a bridal shower a paper with hand-painted flowers the bride adores. This is such a sweet way to give handmade simply.
You’ll need: decorative scrap-booking paper | white card stock | Elmer’s glue | twine | hole punch | a paper punch in whatever shape of tag you’d like

Cut your paper down close the size of tag you’d like for easy punching. Take the white card stock and scrapbooking paper and glue together. Once dry cut them out with your punch. We like to make square tags for our gift giving.

Surely you could also use the scraps for a fun little paper photo frame or something cute to put on the fridge.

Or even smaller pieces of these remnants as confetti!

Take your hole punch and punch out a hole in the corner of the tag {this will mean it dangles at an angle when strung with twine} or at the top.

String through about 8″ of twine.

Voilà. Pretty darling, right? We like this Chevron print as well as a bright citrus design to stand out. We could also see using some cool map paper, a nautical print, or something girly for a bridal shower.

Use these tags for all sorts of goodness: a bottle of wine for a new neighbor, cinched to wedding take-home favors, or a potted plant to welcome spring.
It’s always the right season to be prepared to give a gift to brighten someone’s day. So are you moving on and dreaming up ideas for other winter and spring holidays? What are some of your favorites?

Hi Anne! We bought it at Sweet Paper (www.sweet-paper.com) in La Jolla, CA.
I would call them and ask as I bet they can give you the name or even ship some sheets. I believe they were $3 a sheet. Good luck!
