Make It: Handkerchief-Wrapped Seeds
As you likely know, Aleah’s style is crisp and streamlined. Coastal-inspired elements mixed with modern city touches and rustic reclaimed wood, French linens, and travel photos inspire her. She also loves sweet antique goodies like her grandma’s brooches, French scalloped plates, unique vessels, and floral handkerchiefs. A contrast to our coastal-inspired home with clean collections from the sea and our travels, but pops here and there make for interesting vignettes when paired with glass cloches, crisp white shelves, interesting books, and patinaed candlestics. But what do really do with them? While we’ll hang onto passed down handkerchiefs {Aleah keeps them stored between tissue paper alongside her great-grandma’s crocheted runners and doilies and old stamps – they often make cameos in our photo shoots}, antique stores carry them by the masses.
Perfect to gift to friends or as napkins at a tea luncheon or dinner party, you can usually score them for just a few dollars a piece. A creative take on gift wrap, handkerchiefs add a personal, thoughtful touch. Whip up a dozen or so handkerchief-wrapped seeds and drop them on the doorsteps of your neighbors or friends with a note describing the seeds and welcoming spring.
You’ll need: wildflower seeds | butcher paper | gardener’s twine | handkerchiefs
