Lemon Fresh & Clean

As we ring in 2012 we’re looking forward to a fresh year. Ideas anew. Challenges to tackle. New ways to feel good and healthy. So frequently we get caught up in the hustle or bustle of our day that it’s quite simple to develop on-the-go habits instead of solid ones that fuel our bodies and souls. Aleah’s super keen on downing sparkling water – lots and lots of it – every day. We’re also working on a new habit – lemon water – to keep us hydrated as some days we’re out of office on site or shooting all day. Having the luxury of fresh from-the-tree lemons from Aleah’s parents’ winter place in Palm Springs, we’re set on sipping on lemon water continually.
Here’s how: slice 2 large lemons really thinly {removing seeds}. Roll slices into little cigars and drop into a carafe and fill with distilled water. Store in the fridge overnight. Pour into glasses and top with a little bit of sparkling water.
Another way to add some flavor to your water: cut lemons into 1″ chunks and place in a freezer bag in the freezer. Remove as needed and they act as ice cubes and also add a little zing of flavor to a glass of water.
A few of our resolutions for 2012:
Breath deeper. We strive to walk to the beach each afternoon and get up and away from the computer. We need to do this more often.
Focus focus. Being driven towards a goal can sometimes mean you have way too much going on in your brain. Paring down what’s most important is a must for us.
Relax. While we really do set time for ourselves to relax we need to do so more and to bridge the gap of our home life and business life in a clear way.
Write. A wonderful outlet for us both writing will be a practice we get used to each day.
Create. A passion of ours, being creative and bringing crazy ideas to life makes us happy. We have something up our sleeves for our Wedding blog and on this blog that will help fuel this. Creating for our clients and bringing their dreams to life is so exciting and enriching. We’re dreaming up ideas to innovate and freshen how we do business. When you’ve been running a business for so long it’s necessary to take a glance every few weeks and see what’s working and what’s not. What needs to be freshened and spruced up.
Venture. We have some high sights set for 2012 with some {yep, you guessed it} crazy ideas. The best things can happen when you venture out on a limb and charter new waters. This resolution also goes for adventuring and traveling to some new places we’ve been dying to visit.

Looks so refreshing, doesn’t it? We swap out our lemons in the carafe every other day or so – you’ll notice that they’ll start to get a little pulpy and cloud the water.  They’ll also become diluted and lose their taste. When this happens fish them out {we use long kitchen tweezers}, rinse and clean your bottle, and start fresh.

Aren’t these lemons gorgeous?
What are you looking forward to this January? Are you starting it off fresh and renewed?

This is exactly how I got my family to drink more water. Try adding some sprigs of mint, making it very refreshing drink (great drink for the summer)

    Happy New Year’s!
